Tacloban City, Leyte

Tacloban City, the capital of Leyte was known as Kankabatok, a name referred to the first inhabitants of the place - Kabatok. in 1700's the Augustinian Mission discovered the place, during this period the name Kankabatok was changed to 'Tacloban" because the first settlers used a bamboo contraption called "taklub" used to catch crabs, shrimps and even fish. When asked where are the fisherman going? they would say "ha tarakluban", which meant the place where they used to catch these marine resources. And later on as the day passesit was already called Tacloban. Tacloban is located on Cancabato Bay, in the San Juanico Strait which devides the islands of Leyte and Samar.

If you are planning to visit the place you can get there by plane (philippine airlines, cebu pacific or zest air) which only takes about an hour from Manila and about 30 minutes from Cebu City, or if you want it by land Philtranco and other buses from Manila is always there to take you

Resorts
Leyte has a wide variety of beaches that you can choose from, as a native of Tacloban City there's this one beach resort in Albuera, Leyte the "Babayon ni Agalon" it takes about 2 hrs.ride from Tacloban City to Ormoc City and 30 mins. ride from Ormoc to Albuera. The cottages are pretty nice, if your'e planning to visit this place be sure to have your camera ready for some nice place to capture inside the resort. This is my first time to get into this place and it was satisfactorily fine with me. Here are some pics I took during our summer trip to this place.

The pool has 3 parts, there's a kiddie pool which is only i think 2 ft and another one 4 ft and the last one is i think 6 ft deep all connected in one pool so you'll definitely enjoy their pool.

At the back of the pool there is a recreation area where you can enjoy watching the koy  fish and you can also feed them.
